The Regional Studies Association Research Network on Infrastructural Regionalisms (NOIR) will officially launch at the RSA’s North America conference in Montreal, September 25-27. NOIR is directed by Jean-Paul Addie (GSU), Michael Glass (University of Pittsburgh) and Jen Nelles (Hunter College CUNY) and provides a platform that allows urban academics and practitioners to focus on the role infrastructure plays in determining how regions are constructed, governed, and experienced.
September’s launch event will introduce NOIR’s research agenda, a robust schedule of events, and a special virtual issue of Regional Studies on the theme of regional infrastructure.
NOIR will focus on four main themes.
- Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Regional Infrastructure
- Infrastructure and Regional Governance
- Seeing Like a Region
- Infrastructure and Regional Lives
