About
The Urban Studies Institute prioritizes the urban space by connecting interdisciplinary perspectives, teaching an innovative and specialized interdisciplinary curriculum, and engaging stakeholders in metropolitan Atlanta, nationally and abroad.
The Institute collaborates with other academic institutions in the Atlanta region and both the public and private sector. Our research agenda address issue by scale and ranges from urban theory to policy research; focusing on comparative urban approaches.
Research themes emphasize urban economic resilience and inclusive development including questions of urbanization and development, sustainability, diversity, inequality, life-chances, social/spatial integration, access to public goods, and urban health disparities.
Our interdisciplinary approach in research is further demonstrated through our academic programs, to equip students with critical skills and experiences to navigate the economy of the 21st century- highly concentrated in large urban areas.
